JR East announced that it will operate all night on 12 routes in the Tokyo metropolitan area from New Year’s Eve on Thursday, December 31, 2020 to New Year’s Day on Friday, January 1, 2021.
The routes are as follows that will be operated overnight on New Year’s Eve 2020 in the Tokyo metropolitan area.
Yamanote Line (JY)
- Inner / Outer Circle: About every 13 min
Keihin-Tohoku Line (JK)
- Omiya – Sakuragicho: About every 20-50 min
- Sakuragicho – Ofuna: About every 60-80min
Chuo Line (Rapid) (JC)
- Shinjuku – Takao: About every 20-40min
Chuo-Sobu Line (Local) (JB)
- Mitaka – Chiba: About every 20-60min
Ome Line (JC)
- Tachikawa – Mitake: About every 50min (do not stop between Miyanohira and Sawai)
Saikyo Line (JA)
- Shin-kiba – Osaki – Omiya: About every 60min (Direct operation to Rinkai Line)
Takasaki Line (JU)
- Ueno – Kagohara: 2 trains each outbound and inbound
Utsunomiya Line
- Omiya – Oyama (some Utsunomiya): 2 trains each outbound and inbound (Direct operation to Shonan-Shinjuku Line)
Shonan-Shinjuku Line (JS)
- Omiya – Ofuna / Zushi: About every 60min (Direct operation to Utsunomiya / Yokosuka Line)
Yokosuka Line (JO)
- Ofuna – Zushi: About every 20-40min (including Shonan-Shinjuku Line trains)
Joban Line (Local) (JL)
- Yoyogi-Uehara – Ayase – Abiko: 2 trains each outbound and inbound
Narita Line
- Abiko – Narita: 2 trains each outbound and inbound
Sobu-Narita Line (JO)
- Chiba – Narita: About every 60min(do not stop at Higashi-Chiba Station)
The Keiyo Line will not be operated all night on New Year’s Eve this year.
